Civil Marriage Ceremonies
The
wonderful thing about a civil marriage ceremony is that it can be as creative
and individual as you like. In fact, there are only two legal requirements
that a civil wedding ceremony in Australia must contain. Firstly, your
wedding celebrant must recite what is known as the 'monitum'. The monitum
states what marriage is under Australian law (a union between man and
woman to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life)
and must also include a statement that the wedding celebrant is authorised
to solemnize the marriage. The second legal requirement of a civil marriage
ceremony is that the wedding celebrant must witness you saying your vows
to eachother. The rest is open!
A
typical civil marriage ceremony can be structured in the following way:
Introduction/Welcome
-> Presentation of Bride and Groom -> Reading -> Monitum ->
The Asking -> Vows -> Reading -> Ring Ceremony -> Other Wedding
Tradition (i.e. Handfasting) -> Declaration of Marriage -> Signing
of the Register -> Presentation of the Married Couple

Renewal of Vows or Re-affirmation Ceremonies
It
is becoming more and more popular for married couples to have a renewal
of vows or 'reaffirmation' ceremony. There could be many reasons why you
would choose to have a renewal of vows ceremony. You may wish to recommit
yourselves to your marriage after a difficult period or perhaps your original
wedding day was not all that you had hoped for. Maybe you simply want
to reaffirm your ongoing commitment to each other.
A
renewal of wedding vows ceremony is not legally binding and is different
from a traditional civil marriage ceremony in that the primary emphasis
is on your vows. It is also often important in renewal of wedding vows
ceremonies to recognise 'significant others' in your life, such as the
children of your union. A typical renewal of vows ceremony could look
something like this:
Introduction/Welcome
-> Recognition of Significant Others -> Reading -> Reaffirmation
of Vows -> Reading -> Rededication of Rings -> Other Wedding
Tradition (i.e. Handfasting) -> Declaration -> Signing of the Certificate
-> Presentation

Commitment Ceremonies
Commitment
ceremonies are very similiar to civil marriage ceremonies except for the
fact that they are not legally binding and therefore do not require the
legal elements of a civil marriage ceremony. The structure however, is very
much the same. A typical commitment ceremony could look like this:
Introduction/Welcome
-> Presentation of Couple -> Reading -> Vows -> Reading ->
Rings Ceremony -> Other Wedding Tradition (i.e. Handfasting) ->
Declaration -> Signing of the Certificate -> Presentation
Comitment
ceremonies are very popular with same sex couples and people who choose
to express their commitment to their relationship outside of the traditions
of a legally binding marriage.

Baby Naming Ceremonies
Having
a new baby is an exciting time and a lovely way to introduce this new
little person into society and to your family and friends is through a
naming ceremony.
A
typical baby naming ceremony will look something like this:
Introduction/Welcome
-> Reading -> Naming of the Child -> Parent's Promise -> Reading
-> Supporting Adult's Promise -> Closing Words -> Signing of
the Certificate

simple internet questionnaire and I will use your answers to create your
personalised ceremony. It's that easy!
